Exhibition 1 B-VAC

6th-8th June saw the very first exhibition Of B-VAC at the works gallery in Digbeth, Birmingham. The exhibition took the name B-VAC itself as the inspiration and artists could respond in any way to it. Here is my statement from the show.
I took the hyphen from the name B-VAC, which is defined as ‘ a short connecting line joining 2 seperate parts’. To me that spoke of the connection i have to my babies, both born and unborn and it immediately threw up images of the umbilical cord that for one magical moment in time allows that connection to become physically tangible and to take on flesh.

over 100 people attended the private view evening, which was a great success.

Here are a few images of my latest series of mixed-media drawings called the connections series. They have just been exhibited in Digbeth for the very first B-VAC (Birmingham Visual Arts Coalition) exhibition at the works gallery. It is a body of work that explores the connections we have to our babies both born and unborn as mothers. The overall theme of the show was to be inspired by the name B-vac itself. I used the hyphen as my inspiration, defined as a short connecting line between 2 seperate parts this spoke to me of umbilical cords that allow the connection to take on flesh for a small moment in time. This is some of the resulting work.
